In this trailer of Dexter: Morning Routines:

The trailer start us off on a close up wake up shot, this is a common shot but the director is able think outside the box and has shown it in a disturbing but an intriguing way.

In the trailer the majorities of the shots are close up and extreme close ups, it shows extreme details about the person's aesthetic and appearances, editing is used to blur out causing a bit of a blurred out vignette effect through the scene directing the viewers attention towards the middle of the screen followed by the diegetic noise to go along with the scene.

The non diegetic soundtrack is considered as laid back kind of soundtrack, it is a soundtrack that will be commonly use in scene like this, for portraying that his life is repetitive and calm. Though there were the diegetic sounds which disturbs the soundtrack, and also disturbs motives of the scene, it gives out a psychological vibes that disturbs the sound making it sound wrong and something is going to happen. Colours are being represented as he cut himself and blood is spilled and it cut to the title screen which imply that the colour red is represented as the theme of the show

Well the image representations within this trailer shows piercing, penetration, cutting, slicing, crushing, stabbing, squeezing, tying. This can be portrayed as the life of the character, a killer and if the soundtrack is giving out a repetitive vibes he can be looked at as an serial killer doing this as his daily routine but to people instead. This opening trailer is a bit calm, this can be looked at as a 'Calm before the storm' moment of the show. At the end as the camera showed that he was human but with a dark cold hearted expression on his face, but after he left his apartment he was a new man, smiling and cheerful.
