How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

For Codes & Convention - From 3 to 4 after been watching films and analysing films finding conventions and codes within the film, i felt like i've improved.

For Planning & Organisation - From 3 - 5, because after filming short scenes or films i've felt like i needed to improve on the planning, more than improvising, all the equipment and the gear needed for the shoot.

For Camera Work - From 5 - 7, First of all 5 because I already knew photography, and with the extended knowledge of all the shot types, the framing and the 180 degree rule, i felt like i've improve even more. Learning to use a Steadicam or making one has improve shot types and the stabilisation of the overall film making it look professional. Here is an example of a parallel shot of 2 people and a object that will ignite the shootout.
Delieverance

make animated gifs like this at MakeAGif

Visual Effects & Editing - Visual Effects is 2 - 4 and Editing 2 - 5, when i started learning the course i knew little about editing and visual effects and how to create and implement them in a film,  but after lots of training in after effects and premiere i was able to improve my skill by a lot. An Example is the opening production credit and the actual credits.

Finally Creative Confidence - 3 - 4 I did improve, a lot because there was a problem with our casting, for them not able to attend our final shoot our first rough cut here. With the problem we decided to improvise and create a shootout scene which ended up as our final project "Deliverance".

How would it be distributed as a real media product?

How would it be distributed as a real media text?

Our film is a thriller action film. Here is our research on YouGov to research on our YouGov audience demographics:

For our strategy it would be a NON- THEATRICAL distribution. Why? Because we would like our film to be reviewed by critics and strike a deal with an investor which would like to purchase our film for distribution. Our film is an independent film slightly indie, so for choosing distributors we would like to choose a independent distributors, Our choice would be LIONSGATE because they focuses on independent film, we could also get small distributors from different countries. But if all things fails we would have to be our own distributors, we would post our film on Youtube or Vimeo so it is straight to the customers and after that develop our film company from there. Our release date would be around August / September because the LFF (LONDON FILM FESTIVAL) is held in October and after that enter other films festival as well, locally and internationally.

How does your product use or challenge convention?

Media Example of Deliverance :

  • An action thriller like Taken, lots of action scene, shooting and brawling.
  • Action like John Woo films for example Hard Boiled in 1992. Deliverance has a similar approach to John Woo action films, John Woo excels in making action shots and slow motion shots which we have applied in to the film.

Opening Title

I used Auto Trace to mask the text to be able to create the effect i want.

I used Trap Code particular to parent the masked text, to guide the light through the line.

Then i used Layer - Light (Emitter) This well help guide the line through the letter as parent.

Lighting Experiment

  • 0
We wanted to set a dark and calm mood for out lighting so we decided that using the lights by its own is too strong and solid. So we try to test out the reflector.

Equipment:

without the reflector:

With reflector:

The lights without the reflectors seems to unnatural, artificial lighting to be accurate, but as we use the reflector it can be seen that the light is more natural, sunlight colour and the reflector can diffuses some light off and make it shine on the background as well making the actor and the background look more natural.

Steadicam Experimental

So we decided to test out our new DIY Steadicam test in comparison with a handheld style.

Music Composing

  • 0

Hans Zimmer

What was Hans Zimmers intention when making this soundtrack? (0.30 for clues)
He wanted to compose a music that the audience will hate.
What qualities did Hans Zimmer want the music to have (try and find at
least three)?
1. He want to music to draw the audience into Joker's story
2. He want the audience to know who Joker is going to appear on screen
3. Real edgy music
4. Razor blades and string instrument (cello, violin) create tension
5. Keeping the same batman style music, no to punk or rock
6. Minimum play a possible

How do you feel about the final score and explain why you feel it
work/doesn’t work.

The sound effects of timer ticking creates tension among the audiences, like it is counting down to something. When the timer stops ticking, an disruption or an negative event will occur due to the silences, though it shows signs of relieve, though a jump scare will surprise the audience.
Evaluate what you have learned from this task and how it might impact
on choices made when coming to create your own soundtrack.

On listening to this, i would like to try to implement different soundtrack and experience with the target audience first before launching to film, i would like to see the audience on edge at all time more than relax and at times. (Only Applies in Thriller, Horror or Action for me).

Why does Kyle Cooper believe the Vertigo credit sequence is so effective?

Pick out at least 3 things Saul Bass attempted to do with his credits sequence (e.g. set the tone of the film)

His greatest advice to any graphic design students is to learn to draw or gonna live life around that, drawing and implementation in communication to help communicate for do jobs because once you get a job you would eventually feel like at a certain time in your  life would wish you knew how to draw.

Opening sequence analysis

Limitless (2011)

Directed by: Neil Burger Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, Robert DeNiro

The narrative information provided consists of:

  • ·      4 Digits IQ
  • ·      Could have an impact on the world
  • ·      Going to Suicide
  • ·      Someone trying to kill him and shot his neighbor
  • ·      Just moved in

The protagonist is an intelligent and a successful, we know that because he told us he had an 4 Digits IQ and he just got an luxury penthouse apartment in a middle of a city. Though he was going to suicide, having a killer hacking down his door and killing his neighbors. He was fulfilling his ultimate goal. (Making Impact On The World)

Several enigmas are created such as:

  • ·      Who is this man?
  • ·      Why are people after him?
  • ·      How was he about to impact the world?
  • ·      Why does he have a 4 digit IQ
  • ·      Why is his stuff in boxes
  • ·      Who is after him?
  • ·      Why is he contemplating suicide?
  • ·      Why would he rather kill himself than get killed?
  • ·      Why so calm?

The narrative uses the action code (an action or event that implies something else is going to happen:

  • Hacking down a door – Suggest the killer will break it down eventually.
  • Jumped of the edge – P.O.V that suggest “suicide” suggest that he will jump.
  • Narration – Suggest he was going to tell the story.

The audience is positioned (identifies with) Who does the audience identify with?

Main protagonist is shown an amount of screen time and hearing a non – diegetic voice over, telling a story, conveying the audience that they’re in side his mind.

The atmosphere and setting is established through the combination of the micro-elements.

  • Modern city, very busy and contemporary. Luxury and hi-tech. Some tension, violent. Criminal aspects, urban crimes.
  • Camerawork – Pans, across the lobby revealing dead security guards, floating camera, scaling the building.
  • Diegetic – Metallic door being smashed, Edits on the noise.

The representation of the protagonist is established through the combination of the micro-elements.

  • Close up – A worried facial expression, birds eye.
  • Sound – non – diegetic voice over tells us he is successful and smart yet going to kill him self.
  • Mise – En - Scene Boxes – Suggest he just became successful.
